Are a mess. The whole obituary page is a jumble, and the photos have a bad aspect ratio.

The page used to be good, easy to navigate and worth looking at. Now it is none of those.

Guys, why not just accept the obit service as is. Of course, if you donate or pay for advertisements, I guess you do have a right to complain and I apologize. I myself truly dislike the new format but as I do not send in a monthly cheque to Arthur, I do not complain. :) It is enough for me to be able to view and all thanks and praise to gogouyave.

About the length of the obituaries, whether on TV or radio, or just by placement on gogouyave, I too would admit that some of them are exceedingly loooooooong, but maybe we can look at it as the dead person's last hurrah in life - a statement to his or her testimony of having "lived" while being surrounded by family, friends, well wishers, or even the family dog, whether titled or untitled. RIP

Very charitable of you.

Whilst obviously advertising pays the way. if the content is crap then it is both pointless for the viewer and therefore a waste of time for the advertiser.... Not so?

That's true I like the older page better. It's not only a problem to read the page but if you have an older browser you can't access the page because of some Javascripts that the webmaster add on the site..

I find that the radio obits go on, and on, and ON. Do we really need to know ALL of the deceased's 3 dozen grandchildren, their baby fathers and nicknames, plus "de boys from de block" who are mourning the deceased?

The TV ones are absolutely mind numbingly awful.

Who gives a crap if the second cousin works for Gittens, or what the AKA's of half the population are.

It's absurd. All I want to know is who dead, when, what age, when and where they go bury/burn. end of.

It's like a competition who can name 3/4 of the Island and as many Doctors as possible.

Man its we culture:) and you have to pay for each name. We have to make sure we have a large turn out. Who will see how he put away? de pretty dress...de hat and the weave and doh talk about the time off from work "boss must hear mi name call" It all come together as part of the mourning process culture even if we have to get a loan.

Obviously you don't, Expat. However, some people do; they wish to give their deceased loved ones some final recognition.

While I consider your comments to be a bit harsh, it is your right to express your opinion.

Yet, despite the extremes that you highlight with the obituaries, you still found time to exaggerate: "It is like a competition to name 3/4 of the Island and as many Doctors as possible." You are quite aware that no individual circumstance meets even one of the characteristic that you identified(the number of relatives and friends or professionals, "Doctors", among any such list).

Perhaps the 3/4 of the population WAS an exageration... Yes it was, and it was deliberate. It was as overstated as the endless lists of who cares individuals called for hours on end during the TV presentations.

The important person is the Deceased, not the guy that swept his yard for 6 months.

I think maybe you need to actually listen to the commentary, I think you will find a few Doctors and Policemen in there if you actually paid attention. Not all the time... but they certainly get recognition... After all who wouldn't want to say they were friends with a Doctor. Note hint of Sarcasm.

Most times the family member who stack the supermarket shelves will get a mention, but it will just say uncle to "joe bloggs" not uncle to Joe bloggs who works as a shelf stacker at food fair. (in Ice-man's world that is the bottom feeder) Now the family member who may work at the airport or govt building will get their name mentioned along with where they work and who for( Guess Ice-man will say top feeder).

I have even heard that some people get so vex they boycott funeral of relatives if their name doh call.

Guys you may have been out of Grenada too long (not meant to offend). Families fall out nastily when a 12th cousin is not mentioned.
