Canadian Musical Group: Dead South

I like this a lot.  Expat won't like it.  He hates everything.

Yep, not inspired at all, but it is a bit colonial.

What you guys need to do is to learn to laugh at yourselves, it'll come with age

A little bit of Jerusalem

Something you will never sing. I didn't know all the verses, gets a bit lively after the first verse which admittedly was a bit down.

In elementary school every morning before announcements it would be The Lord's Prayer then either God Save The Queen or O Canada.
We would always stand at attention but never knew which anthem would be played from one day to the next.

Ambivalent really.

Despite one of her motley crew being a Nazi sympathiser, The Royal family after his departure has been a steadying force. The Queen Mum was much loved, Margaret in a different way, but Lizbet has been a loyal servant of the people from the death of her father onwards.

She may have privilege, but she works damn hard for it.

Society is changing values are diminishing daily, post Lizbet it may just crumble like a pack of cards, but up to this point in modern history I think I would have preferred a head of State like her to the mish mash of Presidents America spewed up. She has provided guidance to around  15 Prime Ministers. It is hard to keep up nowadays they change like the wind.

With all the instability in the World these days, I really wonder how long it will take for WW3 ?

Jeez you sure are a bundle of laughs today? Not that I'm vehemently opposed to what you say: how long DO we have, before one of the many loony leaders presses the red button? My favourite go-to phrase when the gender-bender right wing fascist fake news circus grinds you down: Thank God I'll be dead soon! smile To which my kids chorus: Dad STOP SAYING THAT!! Okay: thank god I'm not 20 anymore, okay?

This podcast had me sitting in my car with the engine on listening to the end. Basically asking: why are we such miserable f*cks? Why do we think the world is getting worse, when it's getting better? Why do we think the future is hopeless, when it isn't? It's hard wired, it's our "pessimistic gene", the caution we needed when we had to survive mammoths and sabre-toothed tigers. We may not need that pessimism anymore, but it's hard to shake it off.

Re: Canadian Musical Group: Dead South

Queen Elizabeth II is one of the few living public figures about whom I am willing to say is admirable and a good person.  God save the Queen!

Or, if you prefer....

Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl,
But she doesn't have a lot to say
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl
But she changes from day to day

I want to tell her that I love her a lot
But I gotta get a bellyful of wine
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl
Someday I'm going to make her mine, oh yeah,
Someday I'm going to make her mine.
