OK, who knows how to make a fuss on the internet?

By chance I just happened to look at my Granddaughters Netflix account, which because although 11+ is pretty sensible, and mature in her thinking. So I allowed her to be set at 13+ in her viewing levels.

I just happened to notice "365 days" in her potential viewing content.

I happened upon the film a while back and must admit I was increasingly amazed that it was supposedly a general release film, with some very explicit and extended simulated sexual scenes with multiple fellatio, and at one pont maybe 10 or 15 minutes of sex scenes all over a luxury yacht.

I did a live chat with Netflix, trying to expalin, I had down graded the age for the child to make sure she couldn't see it, but what about the thousands of other kids on the 13+ age band that would be able to see it.

I was told they do not like to change or restrict the artistic content of a film.... blah blah. I said but take it out of 13+ listings.... Oh you can put a thumbs down on it, and.... BUT WHAT ABOUT ALL THE OTHER THOUSANDS OF KIDS that are going to get warped sexual ideas for kids that age?

"You can always cancel your Netflix account if you want to....

The trancript hasn't come to my mail yet, but anyone with some ideas, this need upping a level or two. Something the agent couldn't or wouldn't do.

Re: OK, who knows how to make a fuss on the internet?

Hi *****,
Thank you for contacting Netflix customer support.
Here is the transcript from your recent chat.
You
I just happened to look into my Grand daughters account age 11. OK she should have been on 7+ instead of 13+, but what aberrant puts "365 Days" into a film selection for age 13+. That's sick. It's a soft porn movie. With implied fellatio, and extensive simulated sexual acts.
John Rey Netflix
Thanks for contacting Netflix. My name is John. I am sorry about the issue. And no worries, I can further assist you with that. Please confirm your Netflix email address.

John Rey Netflix
What device did she used if I may ask please?
You
At the time she was on my home PC, she notmally has her own ipad to use at her own home address.
John Rey Netflix
Okay
John Rey Netflix
What profile is she using?
You
She hasn't seen the video I don't think, I did a quick look at her viewing activity, I just don't think it is acceptable for a film of that nature even to be out there for 13+ children. And I don't think I am a prude.
You
She is using *****... which I have just down grades to 7+
John Rey Netflix
Okay
You
She is 11 gpoing on 15, if you know what I mean, but that is way above her age range.
John Rey Netflix
As per checking, the profile for ***** is on Older Kids profile, you should need to change it to lower ratings.
John Rey Netflix
You can change it to Teens or ALL, 7+.
John Rey Netflix
Do you know how to change maturity ratings?
You
Let me ask you a question... Have you actually seen that film?
John Rey Netflix
I have not watch that series because I am not interested but I know it is intended for adults.
John Rey Netflix
I can send you an email on How to choose maturity ratings or block shows for guide or reference
You
Correct, very much so. I did watch it, and simply could not believe it was on Netflix to be honest. But to be in the 13+ category is downright iirresponsible, and who ever put it there need counseling.
You
Yes I do know how to downgrade the account age, I already told you I had done it.
John Rey Netflix
It is a matter of changing the maturity ratings or blocking a show.
John Rey Netflix
You can put a thumbs-down rate for that content to be removed as a suggested content or Click Here to block shows.
John Rey Netflix
Please make sure to go back on this page/chat from time to time so we don't get disconnected.
John Rey Netflix
I also sent you an email if in case the chat got disconnected for your reference.
John Rey Netflix
Okay
John Rey Netflix
Anything else?
You
That is all fine and good... What I am trying to get across is that there are potentially thousands of 13+ kids that are going to be watching extremely graphic simulated sex scenes, and what I am trying to get you to do is say.... Oh OK, I'll pass the information up, so that it can be rectified. It is not just about my issue, it is about those children watching a man screwing a woman for about ten minutes all over a luxury yacht in every position conceivable. It needs reassigning.
John Rey Netflix

John Rey Netflix
Anything else?
You
Well I have got to tell you THIS is going to be all over the internet very soon. It's totally disgusting that anyone should put artistic integrity above moral codes for little children. Frankly you all should be totally ashamed of yourselves. This is not something that can just be shrugged off. That is a totally ADULT movie.
John Rey Netflix
I understand your point. That is why you have the option to block or put a restriction on the account.
John Rey Netflix
I already sent you an email on How to choose maturity ratings or block shows for guide.
You
But it's NOT JUST MY ACCOUNT IS IT.... How many kids are going to get warped sexual thoughts because of that film?
John Rey Netflix
You can also cancel the account if you think Netflix is not for you.
You
Matey, you indifferent ineffective creature.you obviously have no integrity, and no authority, or ability to change or ask for change. What a pathetic service that was.

Sex on a yacht? Gotta check out this movie lol! But you're (we're) fighting a losing battle over porn, the internet is awash with unrestricted porn sites, kids nowadays are having sex ed classes - live and direct! It gives young boys an inferiority complex - hell it would even give me a complex lol!

Re: OK, who knows how to make a fuss on the internet?

So, children in the 13+ category are OK to watch multiple fellatio, and vigourous extended sex scenes? This has no concerns for you?

Yes there are sex sites out there that an inadvertant google might lead a child to. No arguments.

But when a major film perveyor lists rank soft porn down to `13+ kids something is seriously wrong... or am I the only one that doesn't give a shit that children will become degenerates with no understanding of sharing intemacy within a loving relationship.

Lets face it proctologists must be a booming business with all the anal videos out there, and you would want that for your daughter?

OK, I have been slightly lax in letting our 11 year old watch up to 13+, but while obviously not? mature, she has a good grasp on the world, and how it works. Fortunately I spotted that movie in her listings before she did, and reduced her age limit, but how many parents/relatives would have been so lucky to have spotted that film before the child clicks on it, or even know what the content was.

Re: OK, who knows how to make a fuss on the internet?

Don't mistake my casualness for not caring, of course that shit's wrong, but all I'm saying is it's all over the friggin internet. ANd usually the kids are more tech savvy than their parents and can run rings around them. I wouldn't have wanted to see that shit when I was a nipper, and it's terrible that kids are being exposed to it. Yes I'll sound just like that old fart: life back then was a heck of a lot simpler - and better if you ask me.

So yes, I'm with you, and you were right to call out Netflix.
