That about sums it up.
Was just thinking yesterday of how so many nations have such a limited pool of athletes to select for international competition. To come from a population of few and become the best in the world at their chosen sport is truly an amazing accomplishment.

Good old Ernest, the only Olympian I ever met.
He married gramma Maud after being married to Mauds sister Elsie, who had passed away...bit of a long family story that is.
I stayed with Maud and Ernest on visits to Portstewart.
Ernest was a bit upper crust but a real gentleman. He had some great stories of India and of course the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin. He had the pleasure of meeting Jesse Owen's at those games.
Several years after his athletic days he developed a sore lump on his head. Upon further investigation they found a human tooth lodged in his skull, which was easily removed. They figured the tooth was that of an opposing player from a collision during his field hockey days.
