"Who is running tourism in Grenada – NNP or Sandals?"

The caption above is verbatim from the article found here: https://www.thenewtodaygrenada.com/loca … r-sandals/

Here is an excerpt:

"This is the question which many local tourism officials are asking following a weekend presentation by the Jamaican-owned Sandals La Source on its planned re-opening of the luxury resort in the south of the island on October 1.

An official who took part in the ceremony said it was very impressive and he concluded in the end that Sandals La Source was calling the shots and putting the Keith Mitchell-led government in an uncomfortable position to re-open the Maurice Bishop International Airport (MBIA) to Covod-19 hot spots like Miami in the United States."

Locking down the island for six months and then opening it wide open is about the same as dieting for six months and then immediately returning to a steady diet of KFC, milk shakes, Doritos and Coca Cola.

Expat, agreed. Hopefully the government will actually be the lead and not let Sandals push the agenda.

RD, agreed. Sandals' plans are just what you described. Their thirst for recovering lost dollars blinds them to the continuing need to be safe.

Our over reliance of tourism  - increasingly - over the years after  'Spice and Sugar cane'  has put us over a barrel .
We  , the  Caribbean should reinvent a better Tourism product .
As the Donald would say , don't be  suckers or losers.
