Re: For the love of music

We all have our preferences and there is nothing wrong with that.  The article at the top of the thread, however, is about talent, prowess and skill.  You can cringe at Grease and Abba but they were extremely good at making music. That doesn't meet your subjective tastes doesn't diminish its quality.

Now, having said that, I love old school disco and don't care who knows it.  Tell me this isn't pure genius.

I listened, very talented but where is the creativity?
As the article states, so many continue to use the beats of others as a platform to showcase thier talents but rarely offer anything genuine of their own.

They are kids, students.  Give them a chance.

Loved it then and now. Okay maybe I was a tad 'arsh on disco lol! Some was excellent but too much was synco-pop pap. Close cousin and godfather to disco was my fave: funk-rock! Plus silky soul like the Chilites and Stylistics, music to fall in love to on the dancefloor!

Genius alert: Who taught Ernie Isley to play wicked guitar? Jimi!!
