This picture shows exactly what was wrong with the Revo.

Re: Hudson Austin

Maybe this photo was what was right with the Revo. (Still a lot of ordinance around, however.)

Re: Hudson Austin

I had a ?AK stuck in my hands at one point during a visit during Revo times.

The PRA did a good bit of display marching, I guess the exuberant display was at a rally.

What I didn't know at the time was Grenadians seem to have a fetish for marching, it is a big part of any sports display where schools compete against each other.

Seems bloody daft to me, less marching more sports would be the way to go for me, but no, and endless drum beat and off they go marching round the playing field. Taking up half an hour or more in an exercise in futility.

Re: Hudson Austin

>>>>>After the execution of Bishop, Austin disbanded the existing government and formed a military council with himself as chairman that would rule "until normality is restored." He made a radio announcement in which he claimed Bishop had led a mob to seize Fort Rupert, headquarters of the armed forces, with the intention of eliminating the NJM leadership and the army. As a result, Austin said, "the Revolutionary Armed Forces were forced to storm the fort, and in the process the following persons were killed: Maurice Bishop, Unison Whiteman, Vincent Noel, Jacqueline Creft, Norris Bain and Fitzroy Bain among others." He then announced a four-day total curfew, warning the people, "No one is to leave their house. Anyone violating this curfew will be shot on sight>>>>>>

Obviously he betrayed Bishop. Maurice could no longer defend himself in death so Austin soiled his good name. Grenada and Haiti are  just another Africa in the Caribbean. There is no respect and loyalty for the leader.
