I owe Americans an apology.

In the past I have railed against them for simply being anti British and just anti establishment with respect to driving on the wrong side of the road.

It has come to my attention that while early Fords had the steering in the middle, perhaps because there wasn't a hard and fast for which side of the road to drive, it seems earlier horse team handling caused the passing of teams of horses the opposite way to the Brits, as haulage teams were bigger to reduce change overs of horses so driver location for whip use was different, whereas the Brits a) have a history of riding with swords, and b) had different needs for carriages as they has smaller teams of horses as they had staging points much closer together.

So America.... I am sorry.

One of the extremely rare occasions I was wrong... LoL.
