I was going to let that die, but you insist. Ah tired, but Ah ha to leh you know dat there are no rules for naming a country. Those that you mentioned like China and Venezuela were named to cover the territory that they are comprised of. The name Grenada on the other hand was meant for the Island. Later on, the "big boys" grouped islands into colonies and then countries.
In the case of Carriacou which is a parish about 1/10 the size of the whole (tri island) country, the Kayaks feel that an inclusive name will be benificial in many a way.

By the way, you must visit Carriacou a bit. It may help you to understand what all the fuss is about. When you ready to go, let me know and I will give you some pointers. I am confident that Kawika will give you the GRAND tour.
