IMO, if this death was caused over an affair on his part, his sentence should have been a lot longer than 15 years.
Eh? So he should be punished more for having an affair? Infidelity? Murder is murder-having an affair should be irrelevant info to consider in the sentencing phase, and, the jury should not be allowed to consider this in making a decision about how sentencing.
Being a womanizer and a cheat does not necessarily make one a murderer. And if one murders a spouse, the fact that the murderer spouse was having an affair or not should not be considered for determining how much years a persons should get. The jury is not making moral judgments, it is only the crime that is punishable.
So since you believe in getting extra punishment for affairs, if the deceased wife was the one having an affair instead, Nigel should have gotten even less time? His crime should be mitigated and his killing is more justified?
