In your posting on Spiceislander Talkshop dated July 23, 2008 - you said 'If you want Kenroy Baptiste to cut you off the air on his show, just say something about religion and creation. He getting real upset and he cutting you off quick, quick, quick'.
Whilst I respect your right of freedom of expression, I believe you should do so responsibly. I take it that you were a listener to GBN's To The Point on Klassic Radio AM 540/klassicgrenada.com during the period I hosted the programme. Every Monday is an open-line and listeners are invited to call-in and express themselves on issues affecting their lives and/or of national importance.
Admittedly, on many occasions and in the interest of being a responsible broadcaster - I asked several callers to refrain from making certain allegations.
Many complied with my request; several others refused to do so. In the event of the latter, the responsible and professional thing to do was to end the caller's contribution to the programme.
Terminating a caller's contribution had nothing to do with I (as host) disagreeing with the caller's viewpoint. In fact, on many occasions, I did not agree with callers' expressions on various issues and that had nothing to do with whether they remain on the programme.
Therefore, I did not agree with them, but respected their right to express themselves. After all, this is what democracy is about.
You mentioned, in particular - that I was angered by callers' talk of religion and creation, hence they were cut off instantly. Your expressions are misleading and unacceptable. For example - a person can interpret this statement to mean that I am an atheist...that once a caller talks about God and christianity - he/she is sure to be off the air.
I wish to say here and now that I am a believer in the true and living God...and that I strive to live a life according to His word.
I am of the opinion that you ought to be responsible in your writing so as no to mislead the public on a person's character and professional conduct.
