Gwen is right.

Some of what macegirl writes may be true. But is the attitude that can be offensive. It isn't necessary for anyone to talk down to us anti-intellectual-littles-with-no-lofty-ideas. A man could tell his children they nasty and make them go clean their bedroom, but he will cuss the neighbor who tell his children the same ting he tell them. Because de neighbour damn farse. Human nature. Universal.

People are more apt to be collaborative when you treat them as if they have some modicum of sense. Not when you talk down about everything dat wrong with them, and say "come a-hole, let me show you how it's done."

All kinds of non-intellectuals who actually have common sense and are capable of great things, read this board. If you want people to be on the same page with you, it isn't necessary to swallow a thesaurus or adopt specialized jargon. That doesn't make one an intellectual; it just makes one unable to communicate effectively.

Our world is made up of more of what intellectuals may consider "low hanging fruit" than not. And dat is who we need to engage. Reach them where they're at. No one admires pretentiousness and pushy behaviour. If the point is action, that way gets no results.
