Apparently she was only regarded as an economic benefit to Nigel, because in his defense he said in court that since his wife, at times, took care of all the bills in the home, "it would have been stupid of me to do anything that would have made me worst off." Eh? That is all he could say as to why he would not kill his wife?? He sounds so selfish.
15 years is not enough especially when one jail year is only 9 months.
