Okay, let's just stipulate that every married man eventually has an affair. That's not true but let's go with it. Now, let's talk about Edwards when he had his inevitable affair.
It was reckless as hell. He was running for president for heaven's sake! What kind of judgment is that?
He publicly announced that his wife was "was in remission" when he had the affair Damn. It is OK because she was in remission? If that isn't the world recored for weaseldom I don't know what is.
He publicly announced that he "didn't love her." Why do that? Was he just trying to tell us that he just wanted a piece of ass and Rielle Hunter was nothing more than a piece of ass? What a gentleman. I guess he thinks not loving her is a mitigating circumstance but it just means he used Hunter as an object he exploited for his pleasure. If it turns out that he really is that little girl's father, it was an exceptionally slimy thing to do. Even if he isn't the father, why publicly disrespect the woman that way? This guy makes my skin crawl.
If the affair was short and ended in 2006, why was he skulking around a hotel at 2:00am to visit her three weeks ago? Seems like he is still lying about something.
There are sure a lot of lawyer weasel words around this thing. The worst is the whole claim that if somebody he paid her off, he doesn't know anything about it. That isn't what real people say. They say, "Nobody paid her off." His whole sentence construct is built with an out when it is proved she was paid off. It is brutally obvious lawyer talk.
Just watch the guy pretend he doesn't know what the questioner is talking about. This guy is about an inch deep.
This whole thing didn't harm Edwards so much as show him for the slimy character he is.
