Subject: Re: 2008 Soca Monarch Results

I was at the Soca Monarch and for the most part agree with the judging. I do not think that Mr. Killa should have won. He had a brilliant performance, but the participants are judged on more than just performance. IMO Mr. Killa's song was lacking melody and compared to many of the other songs in competition including the Luni Sparks and Electrify selection, it was substandard. Also, Mr. Killa's final stunt was only partially successful and points may have been deducted for that. Luni Sparks and Electrify also had a great performance (people need to give jack his jacket) and in terms of presentation they were equal to/if not better than Mr. Killa. Their song went down very well with the crowd and they were deserving winners.

On another note, I'm am of the personal belief that duos and groups should not be allowed to take part in Soca Monarch. Notwithstanding this, I would like to congratulate Luni Sparks and Electrify for successfully defending their crown.
